In recent months, several high-profile creators have found themselves entangled in shocking incidents that blur the line between online popularity and real-world danger.What begins as digital fame on screens often spills over into the streets, drawing attention not only from fans but also from rivals and criminal elements. For many influencers, the same platforms that catapulted them to fame have also made them highly visible targets. Their opinions, lifestyle and personal lives are often exposed to millions — sometimes triggering backlash, hostility or dangerous confrontations beyond the digital world.
‘Mental Harassment’: YouTuber Anurag Dobhal Crashes SUV During LivestreamPopular motovlogger and former Bigg Boss 17 contestant Anurag Dobhal, widely known as UK07 Rider, was injured after crashing his SUV while livestreaming on social media on the Delhi–Meerut Expressway.The accident occurred near Masuri in Ghaziabad, where Dobhal was seen driving a Toyota Fortuner at high speed during an Instagram livestream watched by more than 80,000 people.In the video circulating on social media, Dobhal appeared visibly distressed while driving at speeds of around 140–150 km/h. Moments before the crash, he turned the camera toward the windscreen and speedometer as the vehicle accelerated.A Hindi song, “Jisko Jo Bhi Milta Hai”, was also heard playing inside the vehicle during the livestream before the SUV veered toward the highway divider and hit the median barrier.During the livestream, Dobhal spoke emotionally and addressed his mother, saying: “When I return in the next birth, please give me love.”After the crash, bystanders rushed to help and alerted the police. Officers later took him to Subharti Hospital in Meerut. Doctors said he suffered injuries and fractures but was stable and later discharged after a plaster was applied.In recent days, some of his posts had worried his followers. On March 4, Dobhal uploaded an almost two-hour vlog, calling it his “last video” and stating he was in “deep mental distress” after going without food for five days. In it, he claimed that family conflicts over his inter-caste marriage had driven him to contemplate self-harm.
Punjabi-origin YouTuber Nancy Grewal Stabbed To Death In Canada Nancy Grewal, a 45-year-old Punjabi-origin YouTuber and influencer, was stabbed to death in LaSalle near Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on March 3.Originally from Ludhiana, Nancy was known for posting videos commenting on India–Canada tensions, criticising Khalistani extremism, and taking on politicians and religious leaders online.She had also recently posted videos against Radha Soami Satsang Beas chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon, and had confronted Nihang Amritpal Singh Mehron, the main suspect in the June 2025 murder of influencer Kanchan Kumari, accusing him of moral policing.Nancy had travelled to LaSalle on March 3 to check on an elderly patient she cared for as a nurse. As she was leaving the patient’s home shortly before 9.30pm, she was attacked. While Essex-Windsor emergency medical services transported her to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to injuries.According to her family, Grewal had been receiving threats prior to the attack.A month before the stabbing, an attempt was made to set her house on fire, but the flames did not spread due to weather conditions. Concerned about her safety, Alisha and their mother, Shinderpal Kaur, regularly monitored the security cameras installed at Nancy’s home from Jalandhar. When Nancy failed to return home on the night of March 3, the family contacted the police, only to learn that authorities were already trying to trace her next of kin.
‘Caught In Compromising Position’: YouTuber Ravina And Lover Killed HusbandA 28-year-old YouTuber, Ravina, allegedly killed her husband with the help of her lover after he caught them in a compromising position and dumped the body in a roadside drain in Haryana’s Bhiwani.Both accused, Ravina from Jhojhu village in Rewari and Suresh, a resident of Prem Nagar, Hisar, have been arrested. The murder occurred near Gujjars’ Dhanai locality, close to Bhiwani’s old bus stand.Ravina, active on YouTube and Instagram, had over 34,000 followers under the handle “Ravina Rao,” posting 659 short videos and dance clips. She and Suresh had been in contact for about 1.5 years, collaborating on content. Reports suggest that her social media obsession and affair with Suresh had caused tensions in her marriage.On March 25, Praveen allegedly caught the duo in an intimate moment, leading to a heated argument. The couple reportedly strangled him with a dupatta on the bed and waited until everyone was asleep before moving the body.Footage showed Ravina seated at the back and Suresh riding the motorcycle, with Praveen’s body wedged between them, heading toward Dinod Road around 2:30 am and returning nearly two hours later without the corpse.The next morning, when the family began searching for Praveen, Ravina claimed he had gone out in another vehicle. The couple had a six-year-old son. The body was eventually recovered from a drain on Dinod Road.
‘Ruined many households’: Gunmen Open Fire At Elvish Yadav’s HouseIn another incident, some men opened fire outside the residence of YouTuber and Bigg Boss winner Elvish Yadav in Gurgaon’s Sector 56.The shooting took place between 5.30am and 6am, when three masked men on a motorcycle allegedly fired around 15 bullets before fleeing.Elvish Yadav’s father Ram Avtar Yadav said the attackers fired around 25–30 rounds.
“The police administration is doing its job well. Our family was present at home when the firing incident happened. I was asleep when it occurred. We believe the police are working properly. Around 25–30 rounds were fired. In the CCTV footage, three miscreants can be seen, out of which two are clearly visible,” he said.Elvish was away on an assignment when the attack occurred. Family members and a caretaker were inside the house at the time but managed to escape unharmed. The property, however, sustained significant damage, including bullet holes, shattered glass, and broken walls and floors.The Himanshu Bhau gang claimed responsibility, accusing Yadav of promoting betting apps they alleged had “ruined many households.” Their post, featuring a logo of two crossed guns with the caption “BHAU GANG SINCE 2020,” appeared intended as a warning to other social media influencers endorsing betting platforms.
YouTuber Saleem Wastik Stabbed Over His ‘Views on Islam’In Loni, YouTuber and businessman Saleem Wastik (55) was stabbed multiple times by two men who barged into his office.Wastik, who often posted videos about religious practices, sustained serious knife injuries to his abdomen and throat and was rushed to hospital.Investigators believe the suspects targeted him because of his views on Islam and videos he posted online. Another possible motive was that one of the attackers wanted to gain social media attention.Police said two men wearing helmets arrived on a motorcycle, asked children outside the office to leave and then attacked Wastik inside.The attackers entered the office where Wastik was seated and began beating him before stabbing him multiple times with a knife. When his family members rushed in, the men fled.Earlier, Saleem Wastik’s son, Usman, had said that only his father could reveal the motive behind the attack. However, police commissioner J. Ravindra Goud told TOI that investigators believe the brothers were unhappy with Wastik’s views on Islam and the videos he posted. Another possible motive, according to Goud, was that Zeeshan, having very few followers on his Instagram account, wanted to do something that would bring him attention.Ghulfam, the second suspect in the attack on businessman and YouTuber Saleem Wastik, was killed by police in an encounter in Vasundhara, less than 48 hours after his brother Zeeshan was shot dead in a similar operation in Loni.
YouTuber Alleges Threat Of False Rape Case By Influencer Kirti PatelIn Junagadh, 27-year-old YouTuber Abjal Sida accused social media influencer Kirti Patel and her associates of harassment, threats, and an attempted extortion of Rs 20 lakh.Sida alleged that the conflict began after he criticised Patel for taking part in a sacred bath during the Shivratri fair while disguised as a monk—an act he said was disrespectful to Sanatan Dharma. Despite being Muslim, Sida said he respects Sanatan Dharma and had shared videos on his social media platforms expressing concern over Patel’s conduct.According to the complaint, Patel and her associates—including Divya Savlani, her boyfriend Jashpalsinh, Hanu Chavda, and Veeram Mevada—allegedly began contacting Sida with abusive messages and calls, pressuring him to delete the videos. The threats reportedly escalated, with the group warning that he would be falsely implicated in criminal cases, including a rape charge, if he did not comply with their demands.The alleged harassment caused significant distress to Sida, who reportedly attempted suicide by consuming phenyl at his home and later near the Jetpur railway bridge. He was rescued by a passerby and rushed to the Jetpur government hospital, where he was treated. Sida is also said to have recorded a video of the incident.Following the complaint, Junagadh police registered a case against Kirti Patel and her associates under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Kirti Patel was later arrested from Udaipur in Rajasthan.
YouTuber Rahul Maharana Stabbed To DeathIn Bhubaneswar, 32-year-old YouTuber Rahul Maharana was stabbed to death after a dispute over a trivial issue at a playground in GGP Colony.Police said the accused — army jawan Sangram Keshari Behera and his nephews Samarendra and Sangram Behera — were strangers to Maharana.Police said the incident unfolded when one of Maharana’s friends was speaking loudly on his phone at a playground in GGP Colony, disturbing a nearby trio. When the jawan asked the friend to lower his voice, an argument broke out, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation. In a fit of rage, Sangram allegedly stabbed Maharana.Maharana was rushed to two private hospitals and later referred to Capital Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Authorities received crucial leads from mobile video clips recorded by eyewitnesses at the scene. Although the three suspects fled on two motorcycles, police tracked them using CCTV footage and arrested them within three hours of the crime.Married just three months ago, Maharana is survived by a grieving family, who have urged a thorough investigation into the incident.
Assailant Opens Fire Outside Influencer Nadeem “Baba” Khan’s HomeAssailants opened fire outside the residence of social media influencer Nadeem “Baba” Khan in Mumbra, Thane district.Shahabad alias Shambhu Qureshi (28), identified as the prime suspect, allegedly reached Khan’s residence around 5am and fired two rounds at his parked car and one in the air.Soon after, Khan uploaded a video on social media challenging the attackers to confront him. He also claimed that he had informed senior police officials about a potential threat, which, he alleged, went unheeded.Acting on intelligence inputs, Mumbra police tracked Qureshi to Shil Daighar, where a high-speed chase ensued through narrow, crowded lanes. During the pursuit, Qureshi allegedly fired indiscriminately, injuring two civilians.Police eventually overpowered Qureshi, recovered an unlicensed firearm along with magazines, and took him into custody.
