Jhansi: A 3-day Bundelkhand tourism stakeholders’ meet was organised here by the ministry of tourism, Govt of India, starting from Saturday, with an aim to create awareness about the region’s rich ancient monumental heritage, which can attract tourists on the lines of Rajasthan.Around 80 persons participated in the meet. These included tour operators, travel agents, tour guides, mostly from New Delhi and the NCR region, hoteliers and homestay operators, along with representatives from Bundelkhand University, media representatives, and officials from the Ministry of Tourism, the state archaeology department, and the Jhansi Museum.On Sunday, the delegates went on a tour to nearby tourist spots at Barua Sagar, the city museum, Jhansi Fort, along with other tourist spots, with an aim to create awareness about the rich heritage of the region, which they can propagate to clients who want to visit the place.Earlier on Saturday, a detailed session was held to promote B2B networking communication among various stakeholders, along with govt officials. A detailed presentation on the registration process for service providers on the NIDHI portal was also held.During the meet, Anirudh Rawat, president, Bundelkhand Travel Agents Association, presented opportunities for travel trade partnerships and strategies to promote Bundelkhand as a key tourism circuit. On the other hand, former state ASI head SK Dubey highlighted the historical importance of the region, which dates back to one lakh years.On this occasion, joint director-general and regional director (North), Ministry of Tourism Arun Srivastava said, “The initiative aims to highlight the tourism potential of the Bundelkhand region and strengthen collaboration between tourism stakeholders and government agencies to promote the region as an emerging tourism destination.”
