Anantnag, Mar 8: Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal and Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, was honoured with a national recognition award at the Jan Aushadhi Diwas ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi for the institution’s outstanding contribution to the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).
Union Minister for Health and Chemicals and Fertilizers J.P. Nadda presented the memento to Dr. Rukhsana after GMC Anantnag’s Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK-09614) was ranked among the top five kendras across the country for the highest medicines procurement under the scheme.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel, who was the Guest of Honour, and Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Manoj Joshi, who attended as the Special Guest.
The recognition came after the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) formally invited Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb to the event through its State Nodal Officer for Jammu and Kashmir, citing the kendra’s exemplary performance in making affordable generic medicines accessible to patients.
Dr. Showkat Hussain Tali, Media Coordinator at GMC Anantnag, said the recognition reflects the institution’s sustained commitment to the government’s vision of affordable and accessible healthcare for all.
“This recognition is a matter of pride for GMC Anantnag. It reflects the collective efforts of our doctors, pharmacists and staff who have consistently worked to ensure that affordable medicines are available to patients through the Jan Aushadhi Kendra. The award will further encourage us to strengthen our commitment towards accessible and quality healthcare,” Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb said.
She also expressed gratitude to the Health Department and the concerned authorities for their continued support.
Jan Aushadhi Diwas is observed annually under the PMBJP, a central government initiative aimed at providing quality generic medicines at significantly lower prices through dedicated kendras established across the country.
