Rajkot: A 17-year-old student allegedly died by suicide at the hostel of GM Patel School in Dhrol town of Jamnagar district on Saturday, a day after she moved in.The deceased, Hiral Hathiya, was a Class 11 science student from Jamkhambhaliya in Devbhumi Dwarka district. She had recently shifted to the school hostel in Dhrol, police said.Within 24 hours of her arrival, the school trustee informed the family that Hiral had allegedly hanged herself in her hostel room. Dhrol police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a hospital for postmortem.Officials said statements will be recorded from the girl’s family members, hostel mates, classmates and hostel management, including the rector, as part of the investigation.Police said the exact reason behind the extreme step will be known only after the investigation progresses. An accidental death case has been registered under Section 194 of the BNSS.
