Lucknow: A city hotelier was arrested for allegedly driving rashly and causing accident killing two people and seriously injuring a woman on Holi (Mar 5), in Sushant Golf City. The accused, Shivam Singh Chauhan, 31, resident of Khurdahi Bazar under Sushant Golf City police station, was arrested.Driving an SUV at high speed, Chauhan allegedly collided with a bike coming from the opposite direction, leaving the three riders critically injured.The complainant, Sumesh Kumar, resident of Gopal Kheda village, Mohanlalganj, said his father, Sushil Kumar, who was driving the motorcycle and his father-in-law Munnilal was riding pillion, both succumbed to injuries, while his mother, Babli, sustained serious injuries and was undergoing treatment.“FIR under Sections 281 (rash driving), 125(B), and 106(1) (negligent act causing death) had been lodged at Sushant Golf City police station against the car driver, who had not been identified till then,” said additional DCP, South Zone, Vasanth Kumar.ADCP Kumar said police traced the vehicle and identified its owner and driver and took him into custody.Chauhan allegedly admitted he was driving the car on the day of the incident at high speed and in the wrong direction when it collided with the motorcycle.Chauhan had abandoned the car at the roadside and fled, police said.Police seized the car and produced it as evidence in the case. The accused was later produced before a court and sent to judicial custody, officials said.
