Hyderabad: Telangana Inc should ensure that they comply with all the statutory guidelines of the central and state govts, including the new labour codes, and safeguard the interests of workers and staff to avoid incidents like the one that occurred at Sigachi Industries, labour minister Dr G Vivek Venkataswamy said on Saturday.“If Sigachi followed those few guidelines, the investment cost would not be more than Rs 20-30 lakh. But ultimately they ended up paying more than Rs 40-45 crore as compensation. Please, along with the ease of doing business, comply with all the statutory guidelines,” he said at the CII Telangana annual meeting and conference on ‘Building a Competitive and Sustainable Telangana’ here.“I also instructed our department officials to be in touch with the industry bodies like CII, as a lot of investments are coming into the state and we need a lot of skilled manpower for them. It is not only ease of doing business that is important; the speed of doing business is also important,” he said. Goutham Reddy, who has 27 years of experience across environmental services, waste management, real estate and infrastructure, worked at EPTRI before joining Ramky Enviro Engineers, now Re Sustainability. Maheshwari is a CA with over 30 years of experience.
