Ludhiana: In a case of Balmiki Mohalla in Sahnewal where a 25-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were mowed down, the Sahnewal police have arrested three accused, including a father-son duo, for murder. The police have also recovered a pickup jeep from their possession that was used in the crime. The arrested have been identified as Lakhwinder Singh alias Vishal of Balmiki Mohalla, his father Harinder Singh alias Goldy and their aide Jaspreet Singh alias Jass of Sahnewal. The deceased were Bhupinder Sahota alias Ritik and Balwinder Kaur. The incident took place after Holi celebration in Balkimi Mohalla on Wednesday when accused Vishal allegedly started playing loud music in his vehicle parked in the street. His neihbnour Bhupinder Singh objected to the same and asked him to lower the volume, which led to a heated argument between them. Vishal allegedly called his associates to the spot, after which the argument turned violent. Thereafter, the accused started a pickup van and mowed down Bhupinder. Meanwhile, Balwinder Kaur, who lived in the neighbourhood, tried to rescue Bhupinder, but the accused crushed her too under his vehicle. After this, the pickup vehicle crashed into a wall, following which the accused fled the scene. On the complaint of Bhupinder’s brother Rohit, the Sahnewal police lodged an FIR under sections 103 (murder) and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Lakhwinder Singh alias Vishal, his father Harinder Singh alias Goldy, Jaswinder Singh of Chakk Saraye village of Doraha, their aide Jaspreet Singh, and seven unidentified accomplices.Inspector Varinder Pal Singh Uppal, SHO at Sahnewal police station, said immediately after registering a case, the police started tracking the accused. The police have arrested three accused and also recovered the vehicle used in the crime. Further, raids are being conducted for the arrest of the other accused.
