Nagpur: The delay in installing Wi-Fi facilities in all hostels of Nagpur University was raised during the Senate meeting on Friday. Senate members questioned the functioning of the university administration after the proposal remained pending for nearly 1 year and accused it of being indifferent to providing basic facilities to students.Senate member Sunil Fudke said he proposed in the Senate meeting held on March 8, 2025 that Wi-Fi facilities be introduced in all university hostels so that students could access the internet for studies and research. He said that although it was a small but extremely important step for students, no concrete action was taken even after one year.
Responding to the criticism, university officials said the Wi-Fi network would be installed only after renovation work in the hostels was completed. However, several Senate members were not satisfied with the explanation. Senate member Vishnu Changde said that, considering the needs of students, the work should be completed before the start of the next academic session and demanded time-bound action from the administration.Registrar Dr Raju Hivase directed the concerned officials to proceed with the installation of Wi-Fi in the hostels.
