Bhubaneswar: IMD on Friday issued yellow warning indicating the prevalence of hot and humid condition in 11 coastal districts for next two days from Saturday. The districts are Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati. There is a forecast of light to moderate rain or thunderstorm activities in several districts during the next three days. There is also an orange warning of thunderstorm activity accompanied by gusty surface wind in some districts on Sunday.The districts in coastal and interior pockets that are likely to witness such rain and thunderstorm include Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Rayagada and Koraput. Manorama Mohanty, head of regional IMD centre in the city, said both hot and humid condition as well as rainfall and thunderstorm activities possibility would continue during next three days with upper air cyclonic circulation and a trough line over the state. Mohanty said day temperature is likely to witness a rise by 2°C to 3°C after three days.
All such forecast came when day temperature rose a little rise in parts of the state this month. On Friday, Parlakhemundi at 37.8°C recorded the day’s highest in the state. Mercury at Titlagarh and Bhawanipatna also touched 37.5°C and 37°C respectively. City recorded maximum 34.7°C. There was dense fog at Chandbali during morning hours, IMD report said.
