Nagaur: District authorities Friday demolished illegal encroachments allegedly belonging to the main accused in a case involving the recovery of about 10,000 kg of ammonium nitrate and other explosive material in the Harsore area of Nagaur district, officials said.The accused, identified as Suleman Khan, allegedly constructed a farmhouse spread over about 45 bigha of land, including a large area of grazing land that was illegally encroached upon, an official said.Police earlier arrested Khan along with four alleged suppliers after a large quantity of explosives was recovered from his possession on Jan 24.Officials said the case was since handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further investigation.On Friday, a team of police and revenue department officials carried out the demolition drive using three JCB machines and removed the boundary wall and other illegal structures at the site.Authorities also disconnected the electricity connection to the accused’s house and sealed the premises, they said.A heavy police contingent was deployed during the operation to maintain law and order.Officials said the encroachment removal action was taken after a revenue department inquiry confirmed that govt land was illegally occupied.
