Nashik: Standing committee chairperson Machhindra Sanap on Friday approved the civic budget presented by municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri for the financial year 2026-27, incorporating revisions and suggestions made by the panel members.On Monday, Khatri had tabled the Rs3,011-crore budget proposal for FY 2026-27. Discussions on the budget were conducted on Friday following which the standing committee chairperson cleared the proposal, including the works recommended by the members of the committee.Panel members demanded adequate financial provisions for resurfacing the roads in the MIDC areas in Nashik city, upgrade of civic hospitals, financial provision of Rs5 crore for each of the 31 wards, replacement of the old drainage lines in the Cidco area of the city and replacement of old water supply lines with news ones.Sanap said the budget is being approved including suggestions and objections from the panel members. On the revenue side, the civic body projects an income of Rs 2,868.76 crore apart from the opening balance. This includes Rs1,738.31 crore from the GST grant, which also covers Rs120 crore earned through the 1% local body cess levied on property transactions. The NMC has also projected Rs285.25 crore from property tax, Rs75.08 crore from water tax and Rs223.68 crore from various taxes collected by the town planning department. The total projected expenditure for 2026-27 stands at Rs3,010 crore, with Rs471 crore earmarked for roads, bridges and other works under the public works department.However, the capital expenditure provision has been significantly reduced to Rs736.96 crore, marking a sharp drop of nearly 50% from last year. At the same time, the civic administration has revised the capital spending target for 2025-26, increasing it from Rs1,031.25 crore to Rs1,501.96 crore, reflecting a substantial upward revision. Revenue expenditure has also gone up, rising from Rs1,982 crore in the current financial year to Rs2,273.04 crore for 2026-27.The draft budget does not propose any major new projects for the next financial year, but several service-related departments have received increased allocations. The health department sees a 19.78% rise in its provision, up from Rs33.77 crore in the current financial year to Rs40.45 crore in 2026-27.
