Porvorim: The state budget made provision to purchase 222 different types of vehicles for Goa police at a cost of Rs 24 crore. Chief minister Pramod Sawant also announced a provision of Rs 45 crore to commence work on the new police headquarters building in Panaji.A provision of over Rs 18 crore to start a semi-open prison at the Colvale Central Jail was also announced, besides setting up a preventive vigilance cell.The CM announced improvements in basic facilities to human resources in the police department and at the Valpoi Police Training Institute. Sawant said that cybercrime units will be strengthened and police personnel will be given special training.The state also announced a provision of Rs 15 crore for home and law and order.
