Mysuru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah announced a slew of projects for Mysuru and Malnad regions, focusing on infrastructure, tourism, irrigation, education, and urban development.A major announcement was the establishment of an advanced construction and infrastructure testing facility in Mandya district in association with the automotive research association of India. The State govt will allocate 100 acres of land, while the association will invest Rs 500 crore to set up the facility.
To promote sustainable agriculture, the govt will introduce an authorised organic certification system to bring Pandavapura taluk, Mandya district under organic cultivation. Other projects in Mandya include the establishment of an ESI dispensary, renovation of Sulekere and its canals in Maddur taluk, construction of a bridge-cum-check dam across the Shimsha River in Maddur, and lift irrigation from the Cauvery River to 12 tanks near Arekere in Srirangapatna taluk. The govt also announced Shramika Residential Schools in Malavalli, Maddur, Melukote, Mandya, and Srirangapatna.To boost tourism, Siddaramaiah announced the construction of a ropeway under the PPP model connecting Mullayangiri, Seethalayyagiri, and Kaimara in Chikkamagaluru district, a proposal that already generated debate.In Shivamogga district, the budget proposes the establishment of an aircraft manufacturing and assembly unit at Shivamogga airport under the PPP model. Other initiatives include Shramika Vasathi Shale (Labour Residential Schools) and new post-matric hostels for 150 students from backward classes. The district will also see several water infrastructure projects, including lake-filling works at Yadagoppa, Gudavi, and Bhadravathi, the Donabaghatta and Shiravala lift irrigation schemes, and construction of barrages and bridge-cum-barrages in Soraba, Sagara, and Talaguppa.Additional works include a retaining wall across Bhadra River in Bhadravathi town, flood protection measures in Koduru village, Thirthahalli, repairs to the Seegehalli check dam, and deployment of a special task force company to maintain communal harmony and curb hate speech.Hassan city, recently upgraded to a city corporation, will receive Rs 200 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Vikas Yojana 2.0 for urban development. In Kodagu district, the govt announced several tank development programmes and improvement of the Madikeri–Donigal (NH-75) road via Madapura, Somwarpet, Shanivarasante, and Kudlipete.For Chamarajanagar district, the budget provides for a Shramika Residential School and a traffic police station at Gundlupet. Siddaramaiah also announced the implementation of Uduthore Halla Scheme in Hanur taluk at a cost of Rs 490 crore, aimed at providing drinking water and irrigating 12,000 acres of command area. Other works include filling dried tanks in Gundlupet taluk, underground drainage works in the town, and a funding for the 70km Hanur–Ramapura–Palar road project.
