Mumbai: Nearly six lakh farmers are still awaiting benefits under the 2017 loan waiver scheme, Maharashtra government had informed the state legislative assembly just last week.In a written reply, cooperation minister Babasaheb Patil had said that of the 50.6 lakh farmers eligible under the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana 2017, benefits were given to 44 lakh farmers. The process was on to deliver benefits to nearly 6.6 lakh eligible beneficiaries, he said. The scheme was launched in June 2017 by the Devendra Fadnavis-led government. The government also provided figures for the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana 2019 introduced by the Uddhav Thackeray-led government. Patil informed the state assembly that 32.3 lakh of 32.4 lakh eligible farmers had received debt waiver benefits. Additionally, 14.5 lakh farmers were disbursed incentive benefits under the 2019 scheme after completing Aadhaar authentication.
