Kanpur: A mob attacked Achalganj police team and injured a cop in Hadha town of Unnao on Wednesday. The police had arrived on a tip-off about a drug-addicted youth creating ruckus in the area. But as the police arrived, they had to face opposition from a mob. During the stone-pelting that followed, one policeman was injured and the windscreen of a govt vehicle was damaged. Police brought the situation under control and initiated legal action.Police received information that Ankit, son of Ram Prasad, was abusing people under the influence of alcohol in Hadha town. The police reached the spot and tried to stop him. Ankit started arguing and also tried to stop the vehicle of the station house officer. While circle officer Beeghapur Madhupnath Mishra and the police were trying to calm him down, a crowd gathered at the spot.The situation worsened when some people started throwing stones, said police. In stone-pelting, the police vehicle driver sustained minor injuries, and the rear windscreen of the govt vehicle was broken. The police force exercised restraint and brought the situation under control. Additional police force was deployed at the spot. The situation was normal, and peace and order was being maintained in the area, said police.Police are identifying those involved in the incident and action will be taken against the accused on basis of video footage. Officials said strict legal action would be taken against those who obstructed govt work.
