Ludhiana: A minor dispute between children escalated into a violent attack at Santpura area near Dhuri Line, where over 20 persons allegedly barged into a house, assaulted a family and fled after hurling petrol bombs. Police have registered a case against 10 named accused and around 10 to 11 unidentified persons.Complainant Raj Gosain, a resident of Mohalla Santpura, said the incident took place on the evening of March 2 when he was at home with his brother Rajit Gosain and other family members. His nephews, Aman Kumar and Shivam were outside, when a group led by Ajay alias Kashi, Happy and Chinu arrived with sharp-edged weapons and allegedly started abusing them. When the youths objected, they were attacked.Hearing the noise, Raj Gosain rushed outside but was also brutally assaulted and suffered injuries.He alleged that the attackers first damaged two CCTV cameras installed outside the house to destroy evidence. They then forced their way inside, vandalised household items and hurled petrol-filled bottles in an alleged attempt to set the house on fire. The group also pelted bricks and stones, creating panic in the locality.ASI Balbir Singh said an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS has been registered against the named accused and their unidentified aides. He added that raids are underway to arrest them.
