Mangaluru: Police arrested six people in two separate cases for allegedly selling drugs to college students and women in the city. Officers seized MDMA, hydro weed (ganja cultivated hydroponically), ganja and two cars during the operations.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said that in a case registered at Mangaluru South police station under sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(A) and 22(C) of the NDPS Act, four accused were arrested. They are: Mohammed Sayyed Afridi, 26; Ahmed Ali Arshan, 22, from Koteshwar, Udupi district, currently residing in Pandeshwar, Mangaluru; Maqsood Saag, 23, from Balmata, Mangaluru; and Felix P Joseph, 20, from Kottayam, Kerala. Police seized 53.8g of MDMA, 103.2g of hydro weed and a car from them.The commissioner said that, acting on a tip-off on Wednesday, officers raided a lodge on Badriya Road under Mangaluru South police station limits. The accused had taken a room in the lodge and allegedly sold MDMA and hydro weed to college students and women when they were arrested.In another case registered at Mangaluru North police station under sections 8(c) and 20(B)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act, two persons were arrested — Adal Roche, 33, of Kankanady, Mangaluru, and Aaron Vishal Lasrado, 18, of Mallikatte, Kadri. Police seized 60g of hydro weed, 1.1kg of ganja and a car from them.Preliminary investigation revealed that Sandeep Shetty, a Mumbai native and hotel manager in Dubai, was allegedly involved in the supply chain. He is suspected of having transported hydro weed to Bengaluru by flight and assigned Roche to collect and transport the drugs from Bengaluru airport to designated locations.The commissioner said Roche and Lasrado supplied drugs to Afridi and Arshan through Maqsood Saag. Afridi and Arshan then allegedly transported ganja, hydro weed and MDMA from Bengaluru to Mangaluru in a car.The four accused reportedly took a room at a lodge and sold the drugs to young men and women when police raided the lodge and arrested them. In the second incident, Roche and Lasrado were found sitting in a car at Bunder and allegedly sold drugs to youths and women when police arrested them.
