Kolkata: A Kolkata Police ASI and his family members, including a young girl, were allegedly assaulted and injured after they objected to a group of drunken youths who barged into an upscale apartment in Belgharia and began drinking liquor on the terrace during Dol celebrations on Tuesday. ASI Partha Dey lodged an FIR against five persons. However, no one was arrested.
When residents of the building were preparing to celebrate on the roof, a few drunk youths from a local complex allegedly went up to the terrace and began drinking. “When Dey protested, he was verbally abused and then physically attacked,” a resident said. Dey’s family tried to save him but were also assaulted. Residents said the accused issued threats to the complex residents, including Dey’s daughter. “A probe is on,” an officer said.
