Chennai: The new bus termini at Tiruttani and Tiruvallur municipalities will be opened today, said Tiruvallur district collector M Prathap on Tuesday. The bus termini will ease traffic congestion and improve commuter convenience, he added. In Tiruttani, the existing Arignar Anna bus stand located in the town centre will be shifted to a newly constructed facility on the Tiruttani–Arakkonam Road, which was built at a cost of 20.97 crore by the Tiruttani municipality. All buses to various destinations will operate exclusively from the new terminus. Similarly, in Tiruvallur, a new bus terminus has been constructed on the Tiruvallur–Uthukkottai Road at a cost of 36 crore, replacing the existing Thiru Vi Ka Bus Stand at the town centre. Town buses will operate between the new terminus and Tiruvallur railway station. From March 30, all bus services will function only from the new facility.
