Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed collectors to take all measures to prevent food poisoning incidents from recurring in residential schools, hostels and govt educational institutions. “The govt will not tolerate negligence towards schools. There are 26,000 govt schools across the state. An officer should be given responsibility for the mid-day meal quality in each school. That officer should eat lunch in the school along with the students. Also, collectors should eat mid-day meals in govt schools once a week and a report should be submitted to the govt,” the CM said.
Stating that the govt is spending a lot on the health and medical sectors, the CM said, “In the future, we intend to integrate govt hospitals with all medical colleges. We are making plans with the aim of providing better medical treatment to the poor. Collectors should be vigilant about outsourcing agencies that create bogus employees,” he said. If strict action is not taken against the sand mafia and illegal mining, the govt will suspend the district collector and SP, the CM said.CM Revanth gave several key directions to collectors, including that the transport department should conduct fitness tests of school buses and other vehicles properly. Eye tests should be conducted for RTC bus drivers, as well as drivers of lorries and other goods transport vehicles. The transport department should provide a WhatsApp number to know the details of large potholes and accident spots on the roads and highways for the govt to carry out repairs. If marijuana, drugs and e-cigarettes are used in schools and colleges, the owners of the respective educational institutions should be held responsible. Every private and corporate school and college should have a psychologist, just like subject teachers and PETs, the CM said. The agriculture department should inform farmers of the benefits of crop rotation and crop diversification, and the use of solar agriculture pump sets. The district collectors were told to submit a report on the opportunities for crop diversification in their respective districts.
