iPhone 17e is official and straight away people have started comparing it with last year’s iPhone 16e version. Apple continues to dish out the supposed affordable model even though the first one didn’t set the cat among the pigeons in the market.
The iPhone 17e has a familiar design, some hardware upgrades but most of the stuff is the same. So people waiting to see the new iPhone 17e launch can now compare the new model with the iPhone 16e, not only with their prices but the overall package.

iPhone 17e has launched in India priced at Rs 64,900 but you now get 256GB as the base storage model. iPhone 16e was made available from 128GB priced at Rs 59,900. So, effectively, you pay Rs 5,000 more for the 17e but get double the storage.

To the naked eye, both the iPhone e models look the same. However, when you dig through the details, the iPhone 17e is marginally heavier at 169 grams than the iPhone 16e (167 grams). But the display doesn’t see a lot of changes. You have the same 6.1-inch OLED panel with the standard 60Hz refresh rate but at least the Ceramic Shield has been upgraded to version 2 for better protection.

iPhone 17e is using the A19 chip like the regular flagship iPhone 17 model with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB storage variants. iPhone 16e came with A18 chip which is equally powerful but you had it available with 128GB storage as the base model. Both the iPhone models can run iOS 26 version and support a wide array of AI tools.

This is the part that Apple has not changed at all. Both the iPhone e models get a single 48MP rear camera and a basic 12MP front shooter for FaceTime calls.

iPhone 17e is also coming with the same 4,005mAh battery like the previous model and even the wired charging speed is the same. However, you now get the iPhone 17e with 15W MagSafe charging support (upgrade on 7.5W speed).
