Nagpur: Ranjana Ghagare, one of the 18 critically injured women who were undergoing treatment at Orange City Hospital and Research Institute, succumbed on Monday morning. She had sustained 70% burns along with hypovolemic shock and a femur fracture in the blast. The remaining 17 women are undergoing intensive treatment.“She was a BP patient. Her blood pressure couldn’t be stabilised and she was in panic,” Ranjana’s son Pritam said, adding that she had asked for water but could not be given any due to the planned surgery.
As per a medical status report released by the hospital, they require urgent surgical interventions, intensive care and continuous monitoring. Most of the patients have sustained severe blast-related burn injuries ranging between 30% and 80% of the total body surface area. Doctors said many patients have undergone emergency wound debridement and dressing procedures, while some required external fixation to stabilise fractures along with additional surgical treatment.
