Nagpur: The city Regional Transport Office (RTO) launched an inspection drive from March 1 and collected a fine of Rs4,36,400 from operators of 26 buses found ferrying passengers without proper documents.Three buses were detained at the RTO office and two at the Ganeshpeth ST Bus Depot. Authorities found that several buses were operating without valid permits, route permits, fitness certificates, and insurance. In some cases, drivers were also found without valid driving licences. Officials further noted that a few buses were carrying passengers beyond the permitted capacity and were operating on unauthorised routes.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Regional Transport Officer Kiran Bidkar. The inspection team included motor vehicle inspectors Satish Navghare and Kunal Patil, along with assistant motor vehicle inspectors Bharat Mahajan and Omkar Meshram.The RTO stated that strict action was initiated under the Motor Vehicles Act, and further proceedings will continue after verification of documents.Surprise inspection drives will continue across the city and nearby areas, said officials.
