Shivamogga: Isro former chairman AS Kiran Kumar has said that providing modern facilities through new scientific innovations can bring about remarkable change in people’s lifestyles.Speaking at ‘Nanu Vignani’ (I’m a Scientist) training workshop organised by the district administration and the zilla panchayat for high school science teachers and gram panchayat library supervisors at Sannidhi Church Institute in Malligenahalli, Kiran said India’s contribution to science and technology from ancient times to the modern era has been immense.Isro is now among the world’s leading space agencies, discovering water molecules on the Moon via Chandrayaan-1, and achieving success in its very first Mars mission (Mangalyaan). India has emerged as a global leader in space exploration, information technology, and defence research, recognised as the world’s fifth-largest space power known for cost-effective technology.India is unique in using science and technology extensively for developmental purposes beyond defence. This indigenous capability has earned praise. Space technology led to national savings of thousands of crores. It provides crucial real-time data to fishermen regarding weather, waves, and aquatic life in local languages.Furthermore, India is taking new steps in research, development, and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Science remains the driving force behind progress, innovation, and basic necessities like medicine, food, and communication, Kiran stated.ZP CEO N Hemanth said the ‘Nanu Vignani’ programme, said to be a first of its kind in the country, was organised to eradicate superstitions and unscientific practices.
