Bathinda: Farm forum Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) has decided to hold protests during the visit of Union home minister Amit Shah in Moga on March 14. Gatherings will be organised at district headquarters, and effigy-burning protests will be held against what the morcha termed “anti-farmer and anti-labour decisions” of the central govt.During the protests on March 14, the famers will press for demands, including repeal of the India–US trade deal, Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, Seed Act 2025, and four Labour Codes, restoration of MGNREGA, debt waiver for farmers and labourers, and enactment of a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP). The decision was taken during a meeting in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Besides this, the farm forum has decided to launch a protest morcha at the Amritsar DC office on March 19 in support of demands, including compensation for the theft of farmers’ trolleys and other losses suffered at the Shambhu and Khanauri protest sites, along with the pending compensation for injured farmers and families of those killed, immediate release of the pending flood compensation, and withdrawal of all police, railway, and stubble-burning-related cases registered against farmers.The KMM also passed resolutions condemning the alleged encounter in Gurdaspur that led to the death of Ranjit Singh, demanding an impartial inquiry and justice for his family, expressing support for the Samana Tower Morcha’s demands, calling for an end to the alleged repression of farmers, labourers and journalists in Punjab, and backing the anti-repression march scheduled to be held in Bathinda in March.MSID:: 128916273 413 |
