According to Asianet News, the Ernakulam South Police registered the case based on her formal statement. According to officers, the complaint contains detailed claims about an incident that allegedly happened two years ago. Police added that they will move ahead only after completing all required checks and procedures.
Allegations date back to 2022
Reportedly, two charges have been filed in the case: assault with the intention of insulting a woman’s modesty, and inappropriate physical contact with a woman. The woman stated that the incident occurred in 2022. She accused Chidambaram of entering her flat in Elamkulam with sexual intent and misbehaving. Her complaint states he “forcefully entered the flat and behaved inappropriately.” Police confirmed that the FIR was registered solely on the basis of her testimony. They also said that “further action will be taken only after a detailed investigation”.
Investigation expected to continue over the coming days
Police sources noted that such cases require careful evidence collection. They said the timeline of events will be verified, and statements from all relevant individuals will be recorded. Officers added that they will proceed as per legal protocol and avoid speculation. As of now, officials have not disclosed whether they plan to summon Chidambaram for questioning.
