Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, along with minister Vakiti Srihari and others, visited the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad on Sunday. After interacting with the officials, they urged Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao and BRS senior leader T Harish Rao to visit the riverfront before what they termed as false allegations about the Musi riverfront project in Hyderabad.“We spoke to the officials here, who told us that 10,000 families were relocated between 2004 and 2014 for the development of the Sabarmati River project. The river was rejuvenated over a stretch of 22 kilometres. Water from the Narmada river, along with treated water from STPs, is being diverted into the Sabarmati,” Kiran Kumar Reddy said.He added that in Hyderabad, chief minister A Revanth Reddy is making efforts to rejuvenate the Musi river and divert water from the Godavari River into it. The city would see further development with the rejuvenation of Musi.“Water for the Sabarmati comes from the Narmada river. Similarly, water will come from the Godavari river. Ramchander Rao and Harish Rao should stop spreading lies to provoke the families affected by the proposed Musi project. Why should thousands of families continue to live along the polluted Musi? The lives of people are more important than politics. The BJP and BRS leaders should stop opposing the Musi project,” Kiran Kumar Reddy said.
