Panaji: Owing to vehicle related menace on roads, the traffic cell of Goa police has decided to use social media for awareness on certain key violations including, traffic diversions and drunken driving. The cell has decided to engage a social media agency to create reels, videos, and memes.The content will include static images, infographics, posters, banners, safety tips, interviews, and animations.Through the web, the traffic cell will monitor comments, messages, and feedback daily, with monthly analytics and insights, along with strategy recommendations. The traffic cell will update content two or three times a week on different social media platforms.The cell will provide the agency with all necessary raw inputs, data, brand guidelines, if any, and information required to perform the services.A senior police officer said that social media will be used to enhance public awareness by promoting safety, crime prevention, and law enforcement initiatives. The cell will use social media to humanise public service and build trust through storytelling and creative mascot-led campaigns. It will leverage evidence-based insights, i.e. utilise verified data and statistics to establish credibility and drive informed, data-driven communication, and create interactive campaigns that encourage citizens to actively contribute to safety and civic initiatives.Another senior cop said, “We aim to develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy for the directorate of transport. The strategy will focus on enhancing public engagement and communication, aligning content and creative planning with audience expectations. It will include conceptualising and scheduling all official communications— such as advisories, briefs, and updates— for dissemination across social platforms”.The content will include a structured content calendar featuring key themes like road safety, school outreach, anti-drunk driving, police achievements, and weekly highlights. spotlights.
