Jaipur: Rajasthan Police Sunday launched a technology-based initiative to enhance women’s safety ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8.The statewide campaign was initiated on the directions of director general of police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, they said.As part of the drive, QR code posters of the ‘RajCop Citizen App’ are being put up in public transport vehicles, including buses, autorickshaws and taxis, across the state. Officials said commuters can scan the QR code during travel to access police assistance directly through the app.The ‘Need Help’ feature of the application enables users to instantly send their location details to the police control room in case of an emergency.Police said the initiative is aimed at providing an additional safety mechanism for female students and working women. A special campaign is also being conducted by traffic police in all districts to support the drive, officials added. The initiative is intended to strengthen the women’s safety mechanism at the grassroots level through the use of technology, they said.
