Thiruvananthapuram: Sreekaryam police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing of a 45-year-old man following a verbal altercation near Chekkalamukku petrol pump on Tuesday.The accused has been identified as Sunil, 47, of Kunnath Vilakath, Chellamangalam, while the injured is Anil Kumar of Vikas Nagar. According to police, the incident occurred around 7.30pm, when Sunil got into an argument with Kumar, who was resting on the platform of a roadside shop in the locality. The verbal altercation soon escalated into a heated exchange between the two. Police said Sunil reportedly left the area following the argument but returned shortly afterwards carrying a weapon and stabbed Kumar. Locals who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the police. Following which, Sreekaryam police reached the scene and shifted the injured to medical college hospital. He was reported to be in a stable condition. A case has been registered in connection with the incident and the accused was later produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody. Police said further investigation was under way.
