Ranchi: State’s chief electoral officer (CEO) on Saturday said they will set up 21,736 camps across the state after a formal announcement for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is made. The SIR is tentatively scheduled to begin from April. The special camps will help voters whose names could not be mapped with the 2003 SIR.CEO K Ravi Kumar said the camps will be set up from April, immediately after the SIR process begins. “More than 21,000 camps will be set up across the state for people, especially elderly, weaker sections and genuine voters, to complete the SIR process without any hassle,” Kumar told TOI.He added, “The camps will primarily be for the unmapped electors. All the election machinery, be it booth level officers (BLOs), BLO supervisors, help desk managers, assistant electoral registration officers, electoral registration officers (EROs), and other officials, including computer operators, will be deployed so that the process is carried out smoothly,” he said.“The total number of electors in Jharkhand is now 2.65 crore, of whom mapping of 1.95 crore people with the 2003 voter list (when SIR was carried out last time) was completed,” Kumar said.“Among the 70 lakh people whose mapping could not be done, it could be because they were absent, shifted, dead, or duplicate (ASDD) voters. The aim is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible voter is enrolled in the electoral rolls during the SIR process,” he said.
