Vadodara: Bhadarva police arrested a farmhouse owner for allegedly opening fire on a group of men in Savli taluka, injuring one person.According to police, the shooting occurred around 7pm on Feb 25 at C K Patel farm in Poicha village. The complainant, 42-year-old Nimesh Baria, with five others, had gone to the farmhouse to question Vishal Baria, an employee there, in connection with the disappearance of Nimesh’s uncle’s daughter on Feb 19.Police said an argument broke out when Nimesh, a resident of Dabhoi, questioned Vishal, who then informed the farm owner, Chagan Patel. Patel arrived and objected to the group entering his property without permission. The altercation then became a scuffle. Patel allegedly pulled out a revolver and fired a round in the air. As Baria and his companions triee to flee in their car, Patel allegedly fired again. The bullet went through the vehicle’s window and hit Nimesh on his left shoulder.He was rushed to hospital. The shooting came to light only on Thursday evening after Nimesh lodged a formal complaint. Police subsequently arrested Patel and recovered the revolver.Officials said the accused did not have a valid arms licence, as his had expired. A case was registered against Patel under for attempted murder and violation of the Arms Act.
