Ahmedabad: Responding to the National Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched on Saturday to safeguard women’s health across the country, the members of the Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) unanimously extended their full support. The initiative aims to provide a robust defense against health complications, particularly for young girls.Dr Jignesh Shah, president of the AMA, underscored the urgency of the movement, stating that it was a critical campaign specifically designed to prevent cervical cancer—a major health concern for women in India.“Cervical cancer is entirely preventable if caught early or guarded against through medical intervention. HPV vaccination, along with regular screening, can save thousands of lives each year,” Dr Shah explained. “AMA stands committed to spreading scientific awareness, addressing common myths and vaccine hesitancy, and supporting this national mission in every possible way through our network of medical professionals and community outreach programmes, ensuring no woman is left vulnerable to this disease.”
