Hyderabad: After receiving a ‘clean chit’ in the alleged Delhi liquor policy case, former MLC and Telangana Jagruthi founder, K Kavitha Friday, in a post on X, declared ‘Satyameva Jayate’, stating her claim of being a ‘kadigina mutyam’ (spotless pearl) was vindicated. Addressing the media at BRKR Bhavan soon after the Delhi court’s verdict, Kavitha launched into her brother and BRS working president KT Rama Rao. Referring to KTR’s recent tweet alluding that the BRS suffered electoral defeats in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections due to the liquor case against her and her imprisonment, Kavitha dismissed any such link.“You are living in denial my dear brother. Accept the facts and understand what happened during the assembly elections. Take steps accordingly and fight it out among the people. Don’t blame me for this (defeat of the party). When did the party support me and did the party social media support me?” she asked.Terming attempts to link the BRS’s defeat to the excise policy case as ‘dishonest and politically motivated’, she said: “Trying to pin an electoral defeat on me is an insult to the intelligence of the people of Telangana. Blaming a fabricated case for electoral defeat is an attempt to escape accountability,” she added.Instead, she pointed to ‘governance failures’ such as non-allocation of 2-BHK houses, failure to fill job vacancies, giving tickets to undeserving candidates and arrogance of the top leadership.Drawing a comparison with Delhi politics, she said the Aam Aadmi Party may have suffered electorally after former CM Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, but insisted that her case was different as the Telangana assembly elections were held much before her arrest. She accused the party and her family of abandoning her during her arrest, noting that neither her father KCR nor her brother held press conferences in her defense. She accused her cousins, T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar, of conspiring against her, referring to her father as a “god surrounded by devils.” She had also alleged that a group within the BRS had planned and succeeded in “breaking the BRS family” for their own financial and political interests.Kavitha resigned from the BRS and her legislative council seat on Sept 3, 2025, a day after she was suspended over alleged anti-party activities. The former MLC thanked the court for finding the prosecution’s arguments ‘baseless’. “From day one, I said this was a false case and that I would come out clean. Today, the verdict has proven that truth beyond doubt,” she said, welcoming the ‘clean chit’ given to all the accused.Kavitha said the verdict does not undo the personal and familial suffering she endured over six months, including separation from her children, humiliation, character assassination, and mental trauma. “No amount of money, no compensation, can restore my dignity or bring back the time stolen from my family. What happened to us was nothing short of injustice,” she said thanking her family and workers for their support at every court hearing. She also criticised the BRS’s ‘failure’ to counter what she described as ‘vile and misogynistic propaganda’ by the BJP, saying, “The silence then directly emboldened the slander.”Announcing that she would launch a new political party in the coming months, Kavitha described the verdict as moral and political vindication. She said she had always accepted people’s verdicts with humility, including her defeat in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha poll, and would continue to fight for the people with or without organised political backing.Earlier, Kavitha met Telangana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission chairman M. Kodanda Reddy at BRKR Bhavan and submitted a memorandum highlighting distress faced by farmers in the Gadwal, Nizamabad, and Khammam districts.
