Kanpur: A speeding truck’s loose tyre flew off, hitting a group of people, killing a woman and injuring three others. The accident occured on Wednesday night in Patara town under the Ghatampur police station area.The injured were taken to Patara CHC. After primary treatment, the doctor sent three home. The woman in critical condition was referred to Kanpur district hospital, where she died during treatment. Police informed the family members and sent the woman’s body for postmortem.Gyan Prakash Pandey, a resident of Patara town in the Ghatampur police station area, ran a grocery shop near the parking area of Patara town on the Kanpur-Sagar highway. The shop was in the outer part of his house. On Wednesday nigh, his wife Archana Devi and neighbour Asha Devi were sitting there.A speeding truck coming from Kanpur’s direction lost its tyre. It bounced and hit a young man, Owais, who was standing outside the shop, broke through the tin shed and fell inside the shop. All three people sitting in the shop were injured by the tyre’s impact. Police arrived after passersby informed them and took the injured to Patara CHC.After primary treatment, the doctor sent three home. Asha Devi, who was in critical condition, was referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur. During treatment, Asha Devi died.
