Mandya: Criminal and disciplinary action will be initiated against officials who clear bills for incomplete works, unsupplied materials, or substandard projects, said zilla panchayat chief executive officer KR Nandini.She directed officials to ensure quality execution of developmental works and prevent the lapse of allocated funds. She revealed that of the 274 works listed in the link document, 161 were completed and 88 were ongoing. Engineers were instructed to expedite the ongoing projects and settle expenditures by March 10, except for the projects that are carrying approved modifications.
Reviewing zilla and taluk panchayat development grants, the CEO stated that any request for extension must be submitted in writing with clear justification. She made it clear that no additional time will be granted beyond the sanctioned deadline. Department heads were directed to closely monitor the progress and quality and to route any required changes through proper channels.To strengthen accountability, taluk panchayat executive officers were instructed to convene meetings with officers and engineers and submit detailed progress reports. These reports will be reviewed in a follow-up meeting on March 5. She also emphasised that all projects must secure prior approval from the competent authority through chief planning officer’s branch to avoid personal liability.Addressing health infrastructure, the CEO called for timely completion of the human milk bank, currently at 40% civil work progress, stressing durable construction standards. The midwifery-led care unit is expected to be completed within 25 days, with regular monitoring by MIMS authorities.
