Ramgarh: The Ramgarh Cantonment Board has installed high lights to keep elephants away. A herd of elephants has been rampaging through ward number 6.Nitish Kumar, Ramgarh divisional forest officer (DFO) said a herd of 18 elephants has been camping in hills near Kankebar village and they were seen in nearby villages of Ramgarh town. The herd of seven elephants moved towards Jaratola falls under ward no. 6 and destroyed crops in last two nights.The district administration and forest department appealed to residents to stay indoors at night.Anmol Singh, former vice chairman of the board, said that the civic body has installed high lights in Jaratola locality and requested the forest department to provide firecrackers and kerosene oil to help residents make fire torches.
