Mysuru: Mysuru city police on Wednesday claimed that the crime rate drastically declined in Mysuru city, attributing the improvement to visible policing, intensified patrolling and continuous monitoring.Sharing the data on crimes under different heads, including murder, property offences and cyber offences, police commissioner Seema Latkar claimed in comparison of crimes reported in the last five years since 2021, the crime figures in 2025 has sharply declined.
Cyber offences have come down to 188 cases from 260 in 2024, 234 in 2023 and 274 in 2022. However, online investment frauds continue to top the list.Murder cases were down to 18 from 22 in 2024 and 30 in 2023, while property offences also dropped to 266 in 2025 from 359 in 2024.Crime against women, especially related to dowry harassment, has gone up from 136 in 2024 to 141 in 2025.However, rape cases dropped to 6 in 2025 from 17 in 2024, and dowry deaths dropped to 3 from 5 in the last two years. About 85% of rape cases from 2021 to 2025 were related to elopement and promises of marriage in the last five years, according to police data.Overall cases of crime against women dropped to 211 in 2025 from 222 in 2024, and 310 in 2023.
