Ranchi/Jamshedpur: The entire political fraternity, including chief minister (CM) Hemant Soren, on Wednesday expressed condolences over the untimely death of former CM and Seraikela MLA Champai Soren’s 21-year-old grandson, Veer, in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.As the news reached late on Tuesday, Champai, along with his son Babulal and other family members, rushed to Manali, where the incident took place.Reacting to the news, Hemant posted on X: “We are deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden demise of Veer Soren, the grandson of Hon’ble Shri Champai Soren ji, in Kullu. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace at the feet of Marang Buru, and may the grieving family be granted the strength to bear this unbearable sorrow. In this hour of profound grief, we stand with them.”Veer had travelled to Manali with friends on Feb 22 and was staying at a homestay in Simsa near Manali. After reportedly skating in the snow, his health deteriorated upon returning to the hotel. He was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed.Local residents spoke highly of the young man. “Veer was good in studies and very affable,” said Uttam Soren, a resident of Jilinggora, the native village of Champai. Some locals said Veer was pursuing his graduation in Himachal Pradesh, though family members could not be contacted to confirm this.Several BJP leaders also expressed condolences. State party president Aditya Sahu said, “I pray that the departed soul rests in peace. May God provide strength to the bereaved family.”Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi said, “This is unbearable pain and an irreparable loss for the family.”
