Lucknow: Police said the victim’s minor daughter and accused sister is the sole witness in the case and her testimony could be decisive in securing his conviction.According to police, the girl, who studies in Class 11, was present in the house at the time of the murder. “She saw the sequence of events—from the argument between her dad and brother to the firing and what followed later. Her account can help establish the exact chain of circumstances,” a senior cop said.“An eyewitness’s statement, if found credible and corroborated by forensic evidence, carries significant weight in court. It helps us present a clear, uninterrupted narrative of the incident, which is critical for conviction,” the officer added.Police said her statement is being recorded in accordance with legal procedures applicable to minors. “We are ensuring that her deposition is voluntary and properly documented. It will be matched with forensic findings, recovery of the weapon, and other material evidence,” another officer said.If the court permits, her testimony could be pivotal during the trial by detailing the sequence of events, motive, and actions of the accused, police said.
