Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that the govt would soon construct permanent buildings for tahsildar and revenue divisional officer (RDO) offices. He said that, in the first phase, buildings with modern facilities would be constructed for 60 tahsildar offices and five RDO offices that are currently operating from rented premises. In the second phase, 170 dilapidated RDO and tahsildar offices would be rebuilt. All buildings across the state would follow a uniform design to ensure better accessibility for the public. The final designs would be decided in consultation with chief minister A Revanth Reddy, the minister said.At a review meeting with officials of the revenue department on Wednesday, officials briefed on the number of tahsildar and RDO offices functioning from rented buildings, as well as those that are in a state of disrepair or unsuitable for administration. The minister said that before and after the formation of Telangana, revenue offices were largely inconvenient for the public and continued to function from rented buildings. He alleged that the previous BRS govt reorganised mandals without planning, resulting in some mandals falling under two or three districts. He further stated that the public faced difficulties due to a lack of facilities and severe staff shortages in many offices. After the Congress govt came to power, necessary posts were sanctioned for the newly created mandals to strengthen administration. He also criticised the previous administration for constructing collectorates far from the public and neglecting their maintenance.Ponguleti stated that the govt initiated the construction of integrated buildings with state-of-the-art facilities for the stamps & registration department. In the Outer Ring Road area, 39 sub-registrar offices across Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Sangareddy districts are being divided into 12 clusters for integrated building construction.Foundation stones have already been laid for buildings in Gachibowli, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Patancheru. Construction in Gachibowli is in the final stages and is expected to be ready within a few months. The govt is committed to modernising the revenue system and providing fast services to the public, the minister further said.
