Kanpur: Two people were killed, while a woman and her two children were seriously injured after two motorcycles collided head-on near Gauri village on the Miyaganj-Safipur road in the Safipur police station area of Unnao late Monday.The deceased were Chhote Lal (25), a resident of Lalta Kheda village, and Basant (35) from Udsah village.Chhote was riding a motorcycle with his sister-in-law Malti (35), wife of Purushottam, and his brother Ramnaresh’s kids, Krishna (7) and Naina (5). They were heading to his sister Preeti’s house in Jamunihakachh village for a birthday bash. Near Gauri village, they collided with a motorcycle driven by Basant. Everyone was thrown off, and the woman and kids got seriously hurt. With the help of passers-by and Rahul, who followed them on another bike, the injured were taken to a community health centre in Safipur, where doctors declared Chhote dead. Malti, her two kids and Basant were referred to the district hospital in a critical condition, but Basant died on the way.According to family members, Chhote worked as a labourer in Bengaluru and came home a few days back. Basant worked in a cement equipment manufacturing factory in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. SHO SN Tripathi said police from Safipur station rushed to the scene after getting the news, took charge of the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem.
