Lucknow: Central govt’s key schemes, including MNREGA and PM Awas Yojana, will now be monitored by a high-power committee headed by CM Yogi Adityanath in the state.A notification issued by the rural development department said the committee will review and coordinate with the district-level District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA committee) for smoother operations of the central schemes at the grassroots. DISHA committees are meant to review the implementation of central schemes at the grassroots. Besides Yogi, the committee will have deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya as the deputy chairman. Twelve MPs, including SP chief Akhilesh Yadav (MP from Kannauj), Congress’ Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma, RLD MP Rajkumar Sangwan, and Apna Dal chief and Union minister Anupriya Patel (Mirzapur MP) will be the members.The committee will also have nine members from the UP legislature, including Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra, BSP MLA Uma Shankar Singh, BJP MLA Purushottam Khandelwal, and BJP MLCs Anup Gupta and Saket Mishra. The committee will also have additional chief secretaries from rural development, panchayati raj, finance, and revenue as its members. It will investigate anomalies, including diversion of funds and faulty selection of beneficiaries, if any. The central schemes monitored by the CM headed panel is a significant administrative and political development in UP’s governance. Experts said that it reflects a growing emphasis on tighter oversight, convergence, and real-time accountability in the implementation of flagship schemes, which have a direct connection with public welfare measures.
