Udupi: Manipal police arrested two habitual offenders within 11 hours of registering a motorcycle theft case and recovered the stolen vehicle. According to the complaint, around 9 am on Feb 21, Sudarshan parked his bike near Veera Maruti Bhajana Mandir in Rahul Nagar, Badagabettu village, within Manipal police station limits, and went nearby for work. During this time, unknown miscreants stole the motorcycle.Based on the complaint lodged by Sudarshan at Manipal police station at 8 am on Monday, a case was registered under Section 303(2) (theft) of the BNS.
Within 11 hours of registering the case, police arrested the accused, identified as Sharath,26, and Ganesh,31, from Udupi, and recovered the stolen bike. The accused were produced before the court, which remanded them in judicial custody. Police said the accused are habitual offenders, with more than 11 theft cases registered against them in various police stations, including Manipal, Udupi Town, Bhadravathi, Koppa, Thirthahalli, Madikeri, and Tumakuru Extension.
