Ludhiana: In a bid to tighten the district’s security blanket, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Darpan Ahluwalia conducted a series of midnight “surprise inspections” across police stations and checkpoints, warning that professional negligence would face zero tolerance. The high-alert sweep focused on Samrala and Machhiwara Sahib, where the SSP personally verified whether the force was truly “on duty” during the vulnerable late-night hours. The SSP’s visit went beyond a simple roll call. Dr. Ahluwalia conducted a comprehensive audit of the internal infrastructure required for rapid response.
There was a thorough examination of staff attendance and the current condition of weapons and safety gear to check operational readiness. The SSP reviewed the functionality of CCTV systems within police stations to ensure continuous digital monitoring. The officer visited highway checkpoints (nakas) to interact with ground teams and refine vehicle-searching procedures. “Negligence at any level will not be tolerated,” Ahluwalia stated during the inspection, emphasizing that disciplinary action would be swift for any personnel found lax.Heightened Night PatrollingWith a focus on proactive policing, the SSP issued special directives to intensify night patrolling, particularly at “sensitive points” and transit corridors. The goal is to create a visible deterrent against criminal elements who often utilise the cover of darkness for illicit activities.Commending the staff who were found alert and professional, the SSP urged them to maintain their momentum. “Public safety remains our top priority,” she noted, while motivating the force to exercise “extra caution” in vulnerable pockets of the district. The SSP reiterated that any attempts to disrupt law and order would be met with a firm hand. She also made a direct appeal to the residents of Khanna, asking for their cooperation in reporting suspicious movements to the police control room or the nearest station immediately.
