Hyderabad: Telangana govt on Monday signed multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to expand skill training and employment opportunities for orphaned youth and to enhance the professional capacity of Anganwadi teachers.The initiative is being implemented by the state’s women development and child welfare department in coordination with other departments. Under an MoU with GMR Aero Academy, orphaned youth living in govt care at Shakti Sadan will receive aviation-sector training from March at Shamshabad. The programme will cover airport operations, cargo services and ground handling, aiming to prepare candidates for jobs in private and international aviation companies. The first batch will consist of 20 trainees, with more batches planned later. In another partnership with FICCI Ladies Organisation, orphaned girls pursuing polytechnic education will receive industry exposure along with soft-skills and digital literacy training. The govt also launched a six-month pre-school education certificate course for Anganwadi teachers in collaboration with Azim Premji University. The programme includes 30 hours of online learning and six days of classroom training, followed by certification, and aims to improve early childhood education for children aged 3-6. Panchayat raj minister Seethakka said the govt’s responsibility goes beyond providing shelter to orphaned children and includes ensuring long-term opportunities through skill development and industry partnerships. She also announced plans for creche centres for children below three years and the formation of sub-committees to strengthen women’s empowerment initiatives.
