Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin on Monday inaugurated new buildings at the Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Arts and Science College in Kolathur, built at a cost of 31.45 crore. He also inaugurated an air-conditioned bus stop, a roadside park on Sembium Red Hills Road, a fair price shop, and an integrated child development centre building and distributed free house site pattas to 2,007 beneficiaries.At the inauguration, Stalin said that the college, developed by the HR&CE department, will benefit students from several parts of the city. The chief minister said 516 students from the college secured employment through campus placements within a few years of its establishment. To further improve employability, a ‘chief minister’s creative centre’, equipped with high-speed internet, was also set up. Over the past five years, several development works including establishment of a mini stadium at GKM Colony, upgraded hospital facilities at Periyar Nagar, marriage halls, dialysis and rehabilitation centres, parks, sports infrastructure, libraries, and housing for the urban poor were undertaken in the constituency, he said. Similar initiatives are being implemented across the state under the Dravidian model, he said.
