Buxar: Kajal Jhamb, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Buxar, said drug addicts should be treated as mentally ill patients rather than criminals. He was speaking at a seminar on ‘Drug de-addiction: Awareness, prevention and rehabilitation’ at the civil court, Buxar, on Monday. The programme was organised under the DAWN (Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation), an initiative of District Legal Services Authority and the Buxar Medical City Foundation. Jhamb said drug addiction impacts individuals, families and society. He added that addiction, like other illnesses, requires medical treatment along with rehabilitation support.
