Prayagraj: Sleuths of the vigilance department (Prayagraj sector) on Monday arrested a lekhpal posted at Singhwal in Kaushambi while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, police said.Police claimed that a complainant on Feb 20 approached the officials of the department and said his father had applied for an income certificate online for contractorship on Feb 18. He added that his father visited the office of the tehsildar (Manjhanpur), where an official was asked to submit the report. The applicant was approached by keshtriya lekhpal Mahendra Kumar, who sought a Rs 10,000 bribe to get the work done. The applicant then approached the vigilance sleuths which laid a trap and caught the official accepting the money from the complainant at a local shop.
