Prayagraj: A state-of-the-art ‘Gen-G’ themed post office will come up on the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) campus to make postal services more attractive and accessible to young users. The initiative draws inspiration from the country’s first such post office set up at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.“The upcoming post office will combine communication facilities with recreational elements, including provision for tea, snacks and entertainment. It represents a step towards modernising postal infrastructure and making it more relevant to contemporary users,” said senior superintendent of post offices Sushil Kumar Tiwari.Officials said the new facility will feature modern interior design, high-speed Wi-Fi, digital service counters and QR-based parcel booking systems.Student-friendly speed post services and dedicated spaces for art displays will also be provided, encouraging creative engagement within the campus community.“The aim is to integrate digital convenience with physical postal infrastructure, ensuring faster and more secure services,” officials said.According to institute officials, the initiative aligns with the vision of Union communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to transform post offices into dynamic social hubs tailored to the needs of youngsters.Once operational, the post office is expected to benefit students, researchers and staff by providing efficient services within the campus itself.Apart from regular postal operations, the facility will offer parcel and packaging, knowledge post, philately services, savings schemes, life insurance and banking facilities through India Post Payments Bank..
